Maruti Suzuki India Limited has commissioned a 1MW mono-crystalline photovoltaic solar power plant at its Manesar facility. The power plant was built with an investment of Rs 10.3 crore. It will help the company offset CO2 emissions to the tune of over 1200 tonnes annually, according to a company press release.Rajiv Gandhi, Executive Director, (Plant), Maruti Suzuki said with this new development Maruti Suzuki has taken the first step to harness renewable solar energy. “Going forward, the company is committed to expanding its environment care initiatives,” he added.Maruti Suzuki’s solar power plant at Manesar consists of about 4,000 mono-crystalline panels. The power generated from the solar plant is synchronized with the natural gas based captive power plant and is used to complement the power requirement in the facility for manufacturing cars.
